Starting a Therapy Journal

When you start your Depth Therapy sessions, I recommend keeping a dedicated therapy journal to jot down your insights, create expressive art within or outside your sessions, record your dreams, and more.

A Sketchbook to Create Art in Your Sessions

If you want to create art in your session, I will guide you through 1-3 short expressive arts exercises to help you tap into your right brain and deepen your understanding of your current growth edge. I will support you in a meditative and ongoing way to stay connected to your spontaneity through your creative expression process, so you can expect that I will talk to you gently and intuitively (similar to a hypnotic induction) as you create to keep you connected to your right brain and your emotional body.

Expressive Arts Exercises: Each session, spontaneously created, might include a simple collage, poetry, storytelling, painting, or drawing exercise. You can let me know what feels best for you, but all the surprising creative invitations I offer do not require prior art or writing experience. Expect to be surprised and even delighted by what can come through your creative mind. My exercises aim to facilitate a fresh understanding of your emerging emotional growth edge.

Art Materials: Please bring a pen, journal, sketchbook, or paper. Also, bring three magazines, a glue stick, scissors, black and coloured markers, oil pastels, watercolour paints, brushes, and water.

A Structured Journal to Keep Brief Therapy Notes

If you are not a journal keeper or do not want to create art in your sessions, you still might like to track your therapy sessions in a structured journal, as it is easy to forget the nuances of what came through once you leave the therapy space. If you would like to keep a structured journal to review and look back upon, I have created a simple journal available on Amazon where you can make brief notes on:

  1. Your therapy session summary

  2. Topics discussed in your session

  3. How you felt during your session

  4. Your main takeaway during your session

  5. Therapy homework to complete.

Engaging in regular therapy sessions is a significant investment of time, effort, and money. And emotional growth is a true accomplishment. This Therapy Journal supports you in tracking your healing, growth, and change progress after each session.
