Focusing Oriented Therapy
Do you know what Focusing is? Focusing is often done with your eyes closed so you can attune more sensitively to your inner world. Focusing within the body is often helpful if you learned to be only externally referenced as a child, and you still habitually find yourself changing yourself to please, appease, or fawn over others to feel safe.
Learning how to sensitively attune to your inner world can help you to connect to your central core and become profoundly true to your originality. In a typical Focusing session, I will guide you to relax, close your eyes, and go within, leaving plenty of time for you to feel into what needs your attention inside. I will also offer gentle suggestions to help you listen more closely to your inner world so that you can feel into what you need.
This type of therapy is excellent if you want to build a strong, integrated sense of self. It is common for Creatives, Empaths and Lightworkers to avoid feeling their own core in order not to feel their own needs. This allows them to avoid self-referencing and focus solely on referencing others' feelings and needs. Since their own needs cannot be felt directly, those needs are often somatized, surfacing instead as psychologically-based aches, pains, and illnesses.
In a Focusing therapy session, I can guide you meditatively into your body so that you can discover the authentic truth of yourself without the intrusion of opinions, advice-giving, value judgments, interpretation, cheerleading, or problem-solving.

Resolving Stuck Places
Genuine, joyful living is meant to be flowing, creative, loving and spontaneous, but most of us get stuck in painful patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving from the past.
Focusing is deeper than talk therapy because it invites fresh, spontaneous inner experiencing. Most of us have repressed, depressed, withdrawn, unexpressive, muffled or frozen parts inside that do not know how to move forward.
Focusing-oriented therapy supports you to find the subtle growth edges inside of you that got stopped in the past, so you can release trapped life energy and relinquish destructive ways of being.
Focusing is gentle and often profound, and is a safe way of being with any inner experience, even the most disturbing, by finding the proper witnessing distance from what is troubling you.
Focusing is creative, bringing surprising insights through inner pictures, metaphors, and spontaneous words that accurately describe your inner world and offer a fresh way forward through old memories and stuck emotions.
Focusing always brings fresh air into old problems and complicated emotions, as it accesses your holistic, right-brain way of seeing and feeling. When you are Focusing, you can learn to trust that something is always happening inside that wants to develop and grow, and that your original nature is always trying to be expressed.
Your body's felt sense intuitively knows the way forward, and through a containing and witnessing presence, you can learn how to hold your inner experiences and move through stuckness and stopped growth processes from the past.
Finding a Felt-Sense
Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy encourages you to tap into your bodily “felt sense” to uncover insights that might not be accessible through traditional talk therapy.
Focusing-Oriented Psychotherapy comes from the collaborative work of Eugene Gendlin and Carl Rogers in the mid-20th century. Their research explored why some psychotherapy clients showed significant improvement while others did not.
Through their research, they discovered that the key to successful therapy was not the therapist’s technique, but the client’s ability to engage with their internal bodily sense of issues.
Would you like to invite your body's felt-sense to reveal your emerging growth edge through deep inner contemplation? I can help you sense into your body so you can see what needs attention love and further development.
